13 Shots
13 shots was one of our first project in our digital media class. 13 shots are the 13 different kinds of shots that we took to extend our knowledge on the different ways you can portray a picture or video. We partnered up with another student in the classroom and went out into the hallway to take the pictures. It was a pretty fun project to work on. The only downside is that i'm not what you would call...photogenic. We got the opportunity to use the nice cameras and learn how to record. We put all of the 13 shots into a video and labeled them as it went on. It was a really good experience and I got to learn new techniques and have fun with my classmates.
Radio Commercial
The radio commercial project that we worked on was really fun. We had to come up with a fake commercial and make it sound real (sort of). I had to put together a skit to say in my commercial, I was advertising Laughs For Hire, a company that sends out a worker to laugh at all of your jokes for 5 dollars an hour, obviously I was not making it realistic. We went into the sound room and recorded our commercial. We imported the audio into our computers and started editing. I thought this was really fun. I liked my finished product, I had a bunch of sound effects and it sounded pretty nice. I'm glad i got to work on this project.
Parallel Action
Parallel Action was probably the first actual project we worked on. Our teacher gave us about 20 shots and we had to use parallel action to edit them together and make it seem like it all flows together. It was a really interesting project because we were just learning to edit videos in Premiere Pro and it took us quite a while. If we worked on the same project today, I could have gotten it done way quicker and it would have probably looked better too. I enjoyed working on it because I seemed to pick it up pretty quickly and I got into the rhythm of things. This project is one of the many reasons I love this class.
TV Commercial
The TV commercial project is one of our projects that we did after we got done with the radio commercial. This was a lot of fun to do. Some people chose to do a different product from their radio commercial. But I decided that I wasn't going to do that. I stuck with my laughs for hire product because I could easily illustrate how the product works in the 30 second clip. I uploaded it to the video page of my website for who ever wants to see it. This was a really cool project to work on because my partners were pretty cooperative (most of the time).
Bullying PSA
The PSA project that i worked on was a lot of fun. I did my project with a partner and we had some good times on it. This was one of our last projects of the year and we made it very well. I also posted this in the video section for who ever wants to know what the final project turned out. We decided to do it over bullying and I think that it was a very good topic to make a PSA about because it is a big problem in our country. My partner and I came up with some really good ideas in how we were going to make this into a 30 second video. The final product came out very good and this was one of my favorite projects to work on in Mr. Holt's class because it was a really good experience and I liked to work with my partner.
Christmas Greeting
This was a pretty interesting project to work on. I also had a partner for this one. This project was cool because we were going to post the project to the TV channel that we have for this class and people from all over could be able to see it. Although this project was pretty much effortless, it was still pretty fun to do and once again, this project is also posted on my website in the video page if you want to see it. It was a simple project meant for Christmas and we recorded our audio in the sound room and we found a nice background for our greetings and we were able to edit it all together in a pretty short amount of time. This was a pretty easy, interesting and fun project to work on.
Christmas Break 2019
Christmas Break 2019 was really fun because I went up to Chicago to go visit my family. We had a fun time being nice and cozy inside. They made a lot of really good food. I also got a lot of really cool presents for Christmas. Including but not limited to: an iPhone 11, an Oculus Quest, and lots of clothes. My parents should not have spent that much money on me. I am really thankful but I think they shouldn't have done that. I made Christmas presents for my parents as well. They had really nice Yeti cups and I thought I could have made them better. I cutout a printed piece of paper that said number 1 dad and number 1 mom and taped them both to their respective cups. Then, I decided to spray paint over it to make a really cool design. This didn't turn out right. I destroyed their favorite cups. But I made a letter explaining why I was sorry and they seemed to think it was funny, (my mom at least). So, In conclusion I had a really good Christmas Break that ended in a New Year.
Respect Your Parents PSA
Our teacher decided that it was about time to make another PSA. For this PSA, I got a new partner, Zach Roberts, and i thought we did really good. I really liked the outcome of it, even though we had to change a few things. We decided to make a respect your parents PSA because I think that parents should really be given more credit. You never really know what could happen, your parents could just be gone like that and you would have never gotten to say goodbye to them. Initially, we were going to use my actual parents, but instead we had to improvise because we were running short on time. In total, I really liked working on this project and i'm glad my teacher decided that we should do another PSA. We also got the chance to make it longer this time and of course, I did that.
Storytelling Without Words
We were supposed to do a project where we have to tell a story but we can only use music. I think this project was a really interesting one. I decided to make it look like somewhat of a PSA but at the same time, story tell without any words (except for the end). I made it about how you shouldn't text while driving. I showed videos of places that the person was in possession with, for example, my chair in class, my locker, my parking spot, and then i showed a video of a ID hanging out of a car with my name and face on it. Then, I cut out to a black screen that said "Don't text while Driving, It Could Change Everything". I thought it looked really good and my teacher seemed to like it. It was a generally easy project, but it was really fun to do, so i'm really glad that my teacher, Mr. Holt, decided to choose it for us.
Scary Movie Project
For our next project we decided to make a movie chase scene with a couple of clips using matched action. We did this with prerecorded professional clips. It was pretty fun, i made a couple of good cuts but I also had a lot of mistakes. Those included not cutting early when the runner starter to run away from the chaser. This made it look like she was going really slow the whole time. This took our class about a week and we got to also choose music to go along with it and it seemed to fit really well. We also had to make credits at the end but I didn't really see the need for that. So, in total i thought this project was a lot of fun but i could've improved my performance majorly. I'm glad Mr. Holt chose this project for us.
Chase Scene
This project will probably not be forgotten. It was definitely one of my favorite projects ever. He told us to make a chase scene that was over 30 seconds. I decided to make something funny. I thought it would be funny to have a chase scene where an army recruiter is trying to get a student to join the army but the student doesn't want to. So, the army recruiter decides to start chasing around the student. The army recruiter eventually tackles the student after going down a flight of stairs. The student then reluctantly decides to join the army and the recruiter gives him a pamphlet about the army. I'm really glad that Mr. Holt chose a project like that so we can get more overall experience. We all made our own chase scenes but you can have people be the actors in your videos. I had Zach Roberts as my student and Kevin Serrano as my army recruiter.
